My daughters are still the gold in my eyes!!!

trommel gold
Even when my daughters were young they were hanging out with their dad on some obscure mining site. The trommel in the background eventually went to South America and they came along too!

Now they are grown up and still support my mining adventures and put up with their dad.

Its  little hard to get them in my truck as their suspicions are usually right….. okay dad when are we gonna get back home!!

My old mining buddy Sam holding Six pounds of our Montana Gold!

montana gold, six punds of gold
My good buddy Sam is holding a couple of good cleanups we had on our project here in Montana a couple of years ago.

This was probably one of the funnest projects I have done. The glacial gold was always beautiful and unique. Just goes to show you that treasures are still out there if you are dedicated and fortunate enough to get the right properties.

My brother Les and I are on another really fun project in another part of Montana and we are anxiously awaiting spring. The property is mostly fine gold but we are really enjoying being close to home and its working  well for us. We anticipate a lot of hard work this summer and hope the price of gold holds up.  A lot of hard work is out in front of us and we are looking forward to a good year!

Gold Mine - wash plant washing the gravel while we are gone

gold mine - wash plant washing gravel
Checked on the mine site to see what the weather is like and found a nice surprise .... the wash plant  had washed a little bit of gold from some of the nooks and crannies over the winter.

We brought it home and ran it over the little table and it was a nice surprise. First time for me snowmelt started our mining season off on the right foot!

Overburden management takes experienced operators and management!

Overburden management
I was stripping some deep ground I had some years back. My two D-8's blade to blade pushed 25 to 30 yards a cycle.

I also had a D-9G and we set the D-8s on both sides and were pushing 60 yards plus on the downhill runs per cycle.

The overburden ratio to pay gravel was up to 20 to 1.

Overburden management is the key focus and number one priority to get it right. You have to have experienced operators and management, hands on at all times to keep it in balance. You have to keep pay gravel  going to the plant in accordance to your overall mining plan.

Just some fun Gold photo's

Gold photo's
Just some fun shots of some gold we recovered over the years. While it looks like we are rich, the facts are that this is what pays the heavy equipment bills and mining costs.

It is a great lifestyle and you are always going after treasure!!! There is a new discovery everyday!

Being in the mountains, around Montana's wildlife , great fishing and taking the grandkids out to explore and enjoy our Montana home!!!

A couple of nice Montana gold nuggets

A couple of nice Montana gold nuggets
These were a couple of nice gold nuggets we recovered from a property we mined a few years back.

Some properties have a few good remnants  that the old timers missed and it was fun  deciphering the geology and sedimentology to find where these treasures lay hidden.

Gold mining can really be fun when you have the right team of trained professionals.

Checking out a little course gold on a property a few years back.

My brother Les and Tony, we tested a property a few years back and are checking out some course gold we recovered.

I see three pairs of glasses hanging on Tonys shirt…..go figure, I guess we are getting to that age.

A little Diamond recovery barge and another interesting Idea!!

Diamond recovery barge

I was pretty happy here. My recovery barge for diamonds was complete and a good coat of paint, looked pretty good. We were getting the Generator wired into the Jig and water pump and getting ready to get it out into the water and dig for some Diamonds.

I am always on the lookout for new and interesting ideas, and out in a boneyard near Hydrabad, India was another amazing curiosity to me.
People in foreign countries are so resourceful. It may not seem like much but look how well some young fellow made this wire reel, almost completely out of wood.  I just love stuff like this!!!!
