Some of the people I met in India

I have been so lucky my entire life to have met so many people from all walks of life.

These villagers were some of the kindest and sweetest people I met in this region of central India.

Hard working and so content with life and family I consider it such a privilege to have had these experiences.

My favorite Gold, Sapphire, and Diamond Scale

My favorite Gold, Sapphire, and Diamond Scale.
My favorite Gold, Sapphire, and Diamond Scale

I am often asked, which type of scale  I prefer for weighing Gold, Sapphires or Diamonds.

This scale I have in my office we have used for years. It is a triple balance and weighs 310 grams at a time.

It is very accurate and fast for weighing individual nuggets or Sapphires or even Diamonds.

While there are scales of every description, this is my favorite.
It is a pretty good one to keep in your quiver of analytical equipment.

A good friend of mine, mined these beautiful sapphire's. He is mining all by himself and just loves it. He has an amazing multi recovery system  and designed and fabricated the whole spread over the years.

I am very respectful of this montana miner and hope to see a lot more of his amazing results.

Dredging: Its a good idea to check out what your going to be swimming with!!

Dredging: Its a good idea to check out
Dredging: Its a good idea to check out ....

I always spend a couple of days going to village fish markets and anyplace on the river that I may be dredging in, to check out the local aquatic wildlife.

Its a good idea to check out what your going to be swimming with. Some of these creatures takes a bit to figure out wether or not they are dangerous to you. Usually the natives will give you a good idea what you are up against.

Some days your courage is tested that is for sure!

One way to anchor your dredge

How to anchor your dredge
One way to anchor your dredge

I am just getting ready to go set an anchor with a couple of the boys. I make my own anchors for my dredging projects out of old 55 gal drums filled with local cement. They are heavy enough to hold your dredge in stiff current, and you can still retrieve them for new sets.

Diamond Dredging Success: good diver's make all the difference

Timmy one of my diving buddy's that came over to India to help out with dredging on the Krishna river for diamonds.

Timmy was trying out a new underwater com system we were using for underwater communication.
These types of systems are paramount in very low visibility

Alway's working with a happy attitude and can do work ethics, made this diving job go very well.
A good man on anybody's dive team.

Reclaiming your mine site

Reclaiming your mine site
Reclaiming your mine site

We are wrapping up some reclamation work on our last project.

Grading our mine site to as close as we can, to its original state is always our goal.

Mine reclamation is an expense that you have to follow closely with your original mine plan.

Many properties that have had historical environmental damage can be restored with your reclamation plan.

A pile of gold

Now this is a pile of gold. Sometimes I wonder how we got so lucky, at times. This is over 50 ounces and I remember just how.... heavy this feels in your hands.

I can't wait to get mining at our new property. While the gold is much finer it looks really good.

Fun days with my grand kids.

My grandaughter Cate and my grandson Dominic are my companions on many days when I am at the mine.

They both have a keen interest in geology and the sciences and we have a lot of fun exploring and finding where the gold is at.

I love it when they hang out with their grampa.
Gold mining has been very good for us.

Mr. Baker with a days take of Montana placer gold

Mr. Baker came up to the mine with me a couple of years ago and this was another good day of Montana placer mining.

His son Gary is one of my best friends and they are a very tight knit family. I have had the good fortune to have met some great people and thanks to all the old timers that were my mentors.

Artisanal miners produce more gold than you would think!

Artisanal miners produce more gold
This is a photo of artisanal miner in Mexico that I encountered earlier this year. I was amazed at how hard this fellow worked everyday.

First he would prospect in various areas, then he would shovel the material into the back of his truck. He had a little water resource and would run the gravel through a little sluice box. At the end of a hard day he would often have a gram of gold or more.

It is amazing to see this all over the world that people are still providing for their families mining gold.

This new gold wash plant I am retrofitting is going to be a dandy!!!

new gold wash plant
New gold wash plant

This is a smaller production plant I am building for a client here in the states. This plant is going to be a dandy!

It is well built and will have a symons vibrating screen.  It will be excavator fed into a choke feed style hopper I am now laying out in the shop.

I opted for more length to scrub the shale type rock that it will be treating. The washing section will have adjustable spay bars with plenty of water options. I just received the sluices from our supplier and hope to have the hopper going mid next week. This plant is heavy and very robust and will be a valuable asset to its new project.

Our trommel retrofit is really looking good and we are moving right along.

Les is finishing up armoring the hopper. The newly rebuilt expanded hopper will be nice for feeding the plant with any size excavator. Tomorrow we will be done with this part of the rebuild. The trommel sparge line and the hopper plumbing will be next and will take a couple of days.

We installed and welded up the splash aprons and it is taking on a new look. They fit perfectly and we are close to getting the trommel wash ready. I am scheduling a June 20 completion time and then we will get our gear saddled up and over to the mine site.
