Mining In Sudan: Meeting With Minister Of Minerals

Sudan Minister Of Minerals
Had the good fortune to meet with the Minister Of Minerals yesterday. We had a productive meeting. I am looking forward to understanding more about Sudan's policies and strategies on mineral extraction.

Real Gold Miners

Lately I have been bogged down pursuing some private endeavors that are keeping me more than busy. The other day, a friend called wanting some advice about a plant he was considering, so I decided to give myself a break and travel to his setup and take a look.

I was surprised to see Dave Turin there when I showed up. We had some really great conversation about mining. He is a real stand-up guy, just like his TV show.

Considering a trommel or a vibrating screen
From Africa, Russia or anywhere in the world,
Our wash plant system can be commissioned now.

Any alluvial gold or Diamond mining project should consider our wash plants. We build and engineer to your property specifications.

Considering a trommel or a vibrating screen?

Saddle up and get to our site in Boise Idaho. The Yanke machine shop can build a robust and reliable plant to get your project on the right path the first time.

I have washed a lot of gold out through the years and we can offer the best in engineering and project evaluation and startup direction.

Applications for the modern placer miners

Applications for the Modern Placer Miner
I am mapping a Diamond exploration pit we dug in Venezuela.

Applications for the modern placer miner

These basic guidelines I will address in the following months are my experiences in the exploitation of placer mining deposits in many locations around the world.

With respect to Prospecting:
Lets go with the following.

Plan your campaign.  Carefully review your present and historical information and select your prospecting sites. You will need to address a business plan and required personnel. Even a two man prospecting crew needs a budget.

In general , establish disciplined prospecting procedures. I will address this in future posts in detail. Keep detailed records of anything you encounter in you exploration phase.
Topographic maps are 1st on your list, showing among other things, location, surface topography and your surface control lines. Example: 50x50 grid lines.

Each prospect will dictate your control procedures and cross sections.. These very basic guidelines, I will address in the following months are my experiences in the exploitation of placer mining in many locations around the world.

A good footprint operation. 34 to 45 yph

A Good Foot Print Operation : 35-45 Yards Per Hour
A good midsize mining operation will get you started and really give you some great evaluation, as a paying operating bulk testing program. You will gain invaluable information on whether to size up or down depending what the margins require, within your mining group.

This is a couple of shots of my signature wash plant. As you can see it is pretty forward and simple.

The plant is light and very mobile on skid mounts. This property I mined, was evaluated and  very deep. This plant was designed for a lesser throughput and higher grade gravel , and this was due to overburden removal requirements.

We had a successful season here. This layout plan worked for this plant and the property .We did not have a lot of big boulders to contend with or tough haul roads.

You can see from the washplant setup that only three men were required to run the operation, everything was kept tight and neat. This type of operation will fit a niche in many of the types of placer operations I run into. It is very easy to size it up or down and add additional rolling stock as your operation requires.
